To Wire or not to Wire? We've looked very carefully at the pro's and con's of the wired home and wireless home and have an unequivocal answer. They can both be used! But for certain functions only wiring will do.
Many of us are now used to cordless phones, baby monitors, cordless
door-bells and other wireless applications. The advantage of such items are
the simplicity with which they can be setup - no requirement for technical
assistance, diy skills and no invasive effect on the property. But on every
item you buy, each one will comment about how they come with switchable
frequencies to avoid interference -
But when it comes to security, we believe that a more robust technique is required. Unfortunately, wireless is still subject to external interference, either through inadvertent electronics or acts of malicious intent. Certain applications, e.g video streaming, require significant 'bandwidth', i.e. the ability to handle large volumes of information. Wireless, still in its infancy, is not yet able to properly support this. A wired backbone supports the security needs of you and your family, but also manages the more demanding requirements you may throw at it. Coupled with wireless where it's best suited provides the optimum solution. |
